Anybody else have a craving for some adobo-roasted salted peanuts with whole, crunchy garlic cloves?
You know what I'm talking about... the kind of roasted peanuts, usually still with the thin, brown "skin" still intact, that is sold in one of those stove-on-wheels similar to what a fishball vendor uses. The vendor (usually a guy named "manong"), sprinkles it with a blood-pressure boosting amount amount of salt. You get to choose between with skin, without skin, hot and spicy, non-spicy and the less favored sugar coated kind.
You tell the guy how much you are going to spend and he puts it in small, brown paper bags (last time I had some, the bags were for either 5 pesos or 10 pesos). And if you, like me, requests the "manong" to put some more whole crunchy garlic cloves in your paper bag, manong gives you more... with a frown.
You sometimes make the mistake of biting the small red or green chili that it comes with and making your lips turn purple. WAAATEEER!!!!!
The oil used for frying is so dark, you could probably re-sell it as motor oil.
I can't wait for January.
Yeah. Inside malls, you'd get same - but smaller brown paper bag.
And you'd tour the malls, while playin catch and catch with the peanuts. What I hate is when you have someone with ya, and keeps on sharin your peanuts. You have to disturb your own train of thoughts to come closer, so he/she can have a go at it.
Why don't they buy their own?
