Sick Kitten w/cough and sneezing need relief until vet opens?
I have a 5 month old kitten w/ eye discharge and sneezing and cough. I went to feed store and got Terramycin ointment for the eyes. He's already had 2 dose. We are giving warm compress to the eyes w/ a dab of Baby shampoo to help with the drainage, and using a clean one for each eye each time. He's still eating a litlle and drinking but we are concerned. What can I do for the constant cough and sneezing until the vet opens in the a.m.? Thanks for your help.
sounds like your kitten has caught the cat flu...
my older kitty (14yrs old) caught it from one of the strays that live near our house. our vet told us that it can be deadly unless treated. we've given out kitty medication, but she wont seem to get over it... shes had it now for over a month. it will go away then come back...
talk to your vet.... i dont know what to suggest until you see him/her. we cleaned our kitty's eye and cleaned her nose with tissues... that only makes your cat feel a bit more comfortable tho.
do you know how your kitty caught it? do you have strays nearby? has your kitty been in contact with ANY animal lately?
