my dog eats the fallen berries/seeds from my coco palms, are they poisonous?

I have 6 very tall coco palms in my backyard, and they always drop orange colored berries (the size of grapes). I have caught him eating these many times. Are they poisonous?
He does vomit occasionally only after playing and running, but this could also be because he eats the cat's biscuits. He is a very fussy eater, but worries me when I see him eating these berries. what do you suggest? I dont really want to cut down the palms as its the only shade in the backyard.

By coco palm you mean the tree that produces coconuts? Coconuts are not considered poisonous to dogs. Some even think that coconut oil may be good for dogs. But, if your dog is vomiting or having other stomach trouble he may have trouble with the berries anyway. He could have an allergy or some other sensitivity.

If I were you, I'd first try making sure that the dog didn't get into the cat biscuits for a couple of weeks. If he didn't get sick, then that was probably the culprit and you know to keep the cat biscuits well away from him. If he still did get sick, I'd try to keep the dog away from the berries. How you do it is up to you. It may mean taking the trees down, being vigilant about cleaning the berries out of the yard before you let your dog out, not letting him in the yard, or keeping him out of the yard during the fruiting season.

If you are really worried or your dog develops any other symptoms, talk to your vet as it may be having more of an affect than stomach upset or it may not be the food that is causing him trouble.
